Memory

THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM, NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

During the Great War, so many soldiers fell. So many of them never had a proper burial or grave. Unknown and nameless their remains lay in the soil of this region, the soil of Flanders, in the fields that once were transformed into a bloody battlefield.

From time to time, relatives of soldiers are passing by here at Pondfarm as they travel through the Great War region. At the place where their relative fought or fell, they then honour him and remember him in silence, in prayer and with the sign of a poppy wreath or poppy cross. This from time to time happens at our place,Pondfarm, too. Underneath a list of soldiers of who we know, they fought in the Pondfarm area:

Do you want to remember a family member or a friend, please bring a Poppy wreath with you, We will hang this up in the museum!
